Witchy Stevie Nicks Will Sing Us Into American Horror Story's Apocalypse

EntertainmentTV

I was a true devotee of the first few seasons of American Horror Story, but I dropped off during Freak Show, which was just a tad too fucked up for me to muddle through before bed. So it is with great anticipation that I await AHS: Apocalypse, which is supposedly something of a mashup of seasons one and three—with Stevie Nicks, who I assume will be a witch you can’t kill. (Minor Murder House/Coven spoilers below.)

On Sunday, AHS showrunner Ryan Murphy tweeted the above photo, featuring the un-killable witches from the third season, AHS: Coven. It’s so nice to see my old pals, even Madison Montgomery, who I fucking hated. Nicks was only a “special guest star” on Coven, and to be completely honest, I can’t even remember what her role was, though I do recall that Lily Rabe’s witch loved Fleetwood Mac. More importantly, Kathy Bates was a racist disembodied head. Are they bringing back Kathy Bates’s head???

According to Deadline, Bates will in fact be back, as will Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, the delightful Billie Lourd, and Joan Collins. Though it looks like the Coven cast is basically back in full (minus Angela Bassett, I think, which is a travesty) it’s not clear what Murphy will cherrypick from the first season, Murder House — can the Murder House exist without Connie Britton’s hair? Is Tate back? Is everyone dead? Is Stevie Nicks dead? Is Lindsay Buckingham dead to Stevie Nicks? Are we all dead? Are the witches dead and then undead and then dead and undead again?

AHS: Apocalypse premieres September 12, which gives you three weeks to stock up on shawls.
