Tracy Morgan Issues Another Non-Apology For His Homophobic Rant

Latest

“Now Tracy, tell us, unless you’re tired of talking about it, what happened,” began Letterman last night to his guest, Tracy Morgan. Ugh. You see, we’d almost forgotten — or at least stopped thinking about — his profoundly unfunny rant about gay people this past June, but Dave gave Morgan, a long-time guest of the Late Show, the chance to clarify his side of the story. We wish he hadn’t.

“I was hurt by it because people came to the show and were bummed out. So I apologized to those folks that came and were bummed out.” Dave asked, “So what were people upset about?” Morgan replied, “I just think it was a misunderstanding.” He also “can’t remember” what he said, playing it off on the comedy greats before him that who use anecdotal comedy: “Sometimes I have to make my point, I have to get to it.” So, using that theory, if he had spent ten minutes setting up the “joke” about how if his son ever came out to him as gay he would disown him, no one would be upset? Whatever helps you sleep at night, Tracy.
