The White Queen Tackles the War of the Roses From the Ladies Perspectives

The new ten part miniseries from Starz's dives into Philippa Gregory’s War of the Roses trilogy, historical fiction about the women who ruled — and those who desperately wanted to rule — the medieval British court of the late 1400s.

The show digs into the relationships between Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort, and Anne Neville — and there's plenty to dig into. It's an incredibly turbulent and bloody period of English history, when claims to the throne were plentiful and allegiances were shaky (at best).

To get you even more excited, here's Gregory and series lead writer Emma Frost on translating the novels to the small screen:

The White Queen premieres on Starz this Saturday, Aug 10.

Oh God I am so embarrassingly excited about this thing — I better be able to find it online somewhere. The Plantagenet books have been sooooooooo good. I mean, they're no Wideacre series but then again, what could be?
