The War On Aging: Botox Gives You Wrinkles

Latest

Aging faces just can’t win. New research reveals that Botox may create wrinkles in odd places as facial muscles persist in their efforts to express human emotions. It’s like a never-ending game of whac-a-mole!

The Daily Mail reports that in a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Dr. David Becker says, “Paralysis of a set of muscles might lead to recruitment of other muscle groups in an attempt to reproduce the conditioned activity being blocked – resulting in more prominent muscle activity in adjacent regions.”

In other words, Botox injections may make wrinkles develop on the sides of the nose called “bunny lines,” which the Daily Fail notes have been “seized on with glee as one more clue to guess which celebrity has been Botoxed.” The paper notes that they’ve been spotted on Dannii Minogue and Amanda Holden, but if you’d prefer to shame some American celebs, a few months ago New York Post identified the symptom on Nicole Kidman, Sylvester Stallone, and Mickey Rourke.

Luckily, there’s an easy way to get rid of bunny lines according to London cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Nick Lowe: “You could always pre-empt the problem by getting your nose Botoxed, too.” But Dr. Nick Riviera Lowe, isn’t underestimating the face’s will to express itself what cause the bunny line outbreak in the first place? Driving creases off the nose may just push them into uncharted facial territory: namely, eyeball wrinkles!
