Teen Mom: Spare The Rod, Spoil The Child?

On last night’s episode, Farrah decided that the conflict with her overbearing mother was untenable and made steps to move out, but couldn’t find an affordable apartment. Last weekend, Farrah was allegedly assaulted by her mother, who was subsequently arrested.

Today, Farrah’s mother, Debra Danielson, appeared in court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was officially charged with domestic assault for allegedly choking and hitting her daughter. She is set to appear in court again next month for her preliminary hearing. Police who arrived on the scene after receiving a disturbance call, and found Debra holding two knives and standing close to Farrah. After ignoring several orders by the police to drop the knives, the officers pulled their guns on her.

Before being featured on Teen Mom, Farrah was the focus of an episode of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, which documented her pregnancy and the birth and infancy of her daughter Sophia. In the clip on the left, from that episode, Debra is caught on camera striking Farrah for her “anti-Christ” behavior, while the two women are fighting.
