Pop quiz: Are you smarter than an eighth grader in 1912?
Lew Rockwell got ahold of this test for the Bullitt County school system in Kentucky. I performed poorly, but to be fair/excuse my stupidity, some of the answers, especially history, are very different now that we know more of the truth. THAT SAID, I still didn't know them. I just know they're different than what the answers the test was most likely looking for. Or maybe this was a very progressive school system for 1912 Kentucky? (???)
Your turn!
DISCUSSION
No, our education system - and, probably, we ourselves - is way, way stupider, and panders more to the lowest common denominator, than it used to be. Welcome to my life, teaching first year university students (at a university that is NOT a safety school) who don't know things they should have mastered in, yes, grade 8.
