See-Through Dresses and Flesh on Display at the AmFar Gala

BeautyStyle

It was around 26° last night when the amfAR New York Gala kicked off Fall 2013 Fashion Week. For some attendees, it was important to be somewhat weather-appropriate. Other folks just went right ahead and wore sheer dresses and showed plenty of skin, hypothermia (and good taste) be damned.

Covered up and elegant: Poppy Delevingne, Tara Subkoff, Giovanna Battaglia.

Sleek in winter black: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Lily Donaldson, Carine Roitfeld (with Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld).

More tales to be told in the dark: Donna Karan, Alan Cumming, Frida Gustavsson, Denise Rich.

Funky mixes: Alicia Quarles; the notorious Peter Brant Jr. and “guest”, Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy, Sofia Sanchez.

Chloe Sevigny rocked an eye-catching print.

Red hot: Crystal Renn, Lena Gercke, Emilia Clarke.

Bright ideas: Doutzen Kroes, Nana Meriwether, Anne Vyalitsyna.

Even though this thing Sarah Jessica Parker wore is shapeless and strange, I love it. Comfy rich hippie chic.

Cee Lo and Big Gipp kept warm.

There were plenty of winter whites, like the exquisite gown on Toni Garrn.

Karlie Kloss, fresh and clean and adorable.

Ashley Greene looked statuesque; Katharine McPhee was effortlessly ladylike; Chrissy Teigen was slightly sexy; Jeisa Chiminazzo exuded romance.

Best dress of the night? Patricia Clarkson. (Yucking it up with Michael Kors.)

Heidi Klum went bare back.

Things are starting to get skimpier: Carol Alt had skin-toned panels are bare shoulders.

Lindsay Lohan had a beaded bosom.

Rawther short for February: Alexa Chung and Dania Ramirez.

Pretty damn see-through: Lydia Hearst-Shaw , Mary Alice Stephenson, Leigh Lezark, Hofit Golan.

One must only assume that Alina Baikova is a forthright gal who doesn’t like to leave anything to the imagination.

And, finally, with nothing to hide, back or front, Michelle Harper.
