Obama Launches $100 Million Dollar HIV Research Initiative

Latest

Just one day after the 25th World AIDS Day, President Obama announced an initiative to find a cure for HIV infections that would be funded by $100 million shifted from existing spending. “The United States should be at the forefront of new discoveries into how to put people into long-term remission without requiring lifelong therapies — or better yet, eliminate it completely,” he said earlier today at the National Institutes of Health.

This is great news — and in such stark contrast to those disturbing news that the Reagan White House’s acting press secretary Larry Speakes, and some of the reporters at press briefings, spent plenty of time laughing about the emerging crisis.
