Today is apparently International Cat Day but for me and my bald cat, every day is International Cat Day in our home.

As the cat adjusts to her new body—what it looks like and what it can do—the members of my household are doing the same. The left side of her body is marked by a giant scar, like a river cutting through the canyons of her front half and her murky rear. It was on her body when I adopted her in 2010, a fresh wound that was in the first stages of healing. No one told me how she got the scar, but I like to think it makes her look tough and not like a very slow cat who wandered through a chain link fence instead of climbing up and over it like the rest of her friends.
