Man Who Had Wife Killed So He Could Be a Bondage Master Sentenced

What is it that advice columns always say about good relationships? It’s either “communication is key” or “murder your spouse and become a sex monster.” Unfortunately, “Master Bob” (real name: Bob Bashara) forgot which was right. Now he faces life in prison.

Bashara, who again, only wants to be referred to as Master Bob in his new life, has been convicted in the death of his wife, whose murder he arranged. He was sentenced Thursday, and will spend the rest of his life in prison, which is fitting considering that he had someone murdered so that he could run a dungeon below a bar. Kinks are great and all, but if your partner isn’t into them, you’re either going to have to compromise or break up. Killing is never an option. I know that sounds kind of trite, but it feels like even this basic knowledge was lost on Bashars, whom jurors call a “monster, narcissist and psychopath.”

Bashara did not speak during his trial, but the Detroit Free Press reports that he didn’t have to, because he revealed his plan to murder his wife to far too many people to begin with.

Interviews with reporters, secretly recorded conversations, e-mails and text messages presented during the months-long trial are some of what swayed the jury into convicting Bashara of first-degree murder and other charges in connection with his wife’s death.

“The most damning evidence, in my opinion, was that he talked to too many people,” said juror Joe Fernandez, 55, of Detroit. “He basically told everybody what he was trying to do.”
