Photography Project Features Badass, Beautiful Women in Wheelchairs

Kitty, one of the women featured in Raw Beauty NYC’s photo series chronicling the extraordinary lives and abilities of women with disabilities says that often people are uncomfortable seeing those who are disabled as sensual or sexual. Raw Beauty’s photos, however, make it much easier.

This project is really exciting. Not only is it giving the models an opportunity to pose for beautiful photos with their wheelchair or other adaptive apparatuses, but it’s also giving those who view the photo a sense that beauty, empowerment and ability to be great have nothing to do with one’s physical body. The photos aren’t just “nice,” they’re provocative, sexy and often action-packed, helping expand our idea of beauty to encompass a wider variety of gorgeous. And it’s awesome to see so much body diversity.

And what’s most important is that these women are beautiful on the outside, working it beyond belief. Killing it, ladies.
