John Legend Producing a Documentary About Segregated Proms

John Legend’s partners at his production company Get Lifted Film Co. will serve as Executive Producers on a documentary about the legacy of segregated proms and a “racially charged murder trial in Georgia’s Montgomery County.”

According to Deadline, Get Lifted brought financing to see the documentary, which is now in post-production, completed.

If you haven’t heard of segregated proms, get ready to be really fucking bummed out. At some high schools, students and parents sponsor segregated proms and black kids are barred from attending the white prom. But, you know, everything is great here in post-racial America!
