Jennifer Garner Reportedly Waiting to Finalize Divorce Until She's Sure Ben Affleck Is Maintaining His Sobriety

Us Weekly reports that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who announced their separation in June 2015 and got around to filing papers in April 2017, but are totally still married, were warned by an L.A. Superior Court judge on Wednesday that they might have to start the divorce proceedings over again if they can’t come to an arrangement soon.

According to Us Weekly’s source, the hold-up is coming from Garner’s end, apparently, “Jen wanted to give Ben the time and opportunity to work on his health and sobriety. She isn’t in a rush.” Affleck has struggled in the past with alcoholism and addiction.

The concern would of course be for their three young children. The source says, “Jen just isn’t willing to settle the custody issues until she’s 100 percent certain he’s clean.” Moreover, she’s still waiting “for him to prove he is taking it very seriously.”
