Iowa Police Find Meth Lab in Taco Bell

Police in Cedar Rapids, Iowa discovered a meth lab in the utility area of a Taco Bell on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether they had a tip as to the presence of the meth lab or whether it was just a wacky series of mishaps that led to its discovery, but after finding two men, Christopher Matous and Kent Duby, outside a closed Taco Bell, they somehow wound up inside the restaurant and discovered the lab. Both Matous and Duby have been charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Duby has also been charged with possession.

It’s unclear how, exactly, the two were able to set up a meth lab inside a Taco Bell, although one of the men—it’s unclear which—was a now-former employee of the restaurant. Still, while restaurant GMs frequently give no fucks and have no clue about what’s going on inside their own building, I’ve never heard of that extending as far as “functional meth lab on the premises.” Someone’s got some ‘splaining to do.
