Natalie Portman is playing Jacqueline Kennedy in Jackie, a film directed by Pablo Larraín who also produced this year’s Nasty Baby and is helming the upcoming Neruda. The movie, set for release sometime in 2017, will take place following the days after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.
The film is being produced by Darren Aronofsky, who previously directed Portman in Black Swan. Via Deadline, Protozoa Pictures released a photo of Portman as Jackie, in which she is shown wearing a red dress and pearls. While the costume designer for the film has not yet been announced, they will undoubtedly face as much pressure to make sure the wardrobe is on point as Portman is to properly portray the American icon.
The former first lady had a reputation for being well dressed, and counted Givenchy, Chanel, Balenciaga and Dior among her favorite designers. Jackie is currently filming in Paris and will also star Peter Saarsgard, Greta Gerwig, Max Casella and John Hurt.
