David Daleiden, the man behind the anti-abortion Center for Medical Progress, turned himself in today after being indicted on charges of tampering with a government record and a misdemeanor count related to the prohibited sale of human organs. He posted a $3,000 bond and was immediately released.
Video taken by the anti-abortion group Texas Right to Life shows Daleiden smiling as he walked into the Houston courthouse to cheers and applause.
He also took a fairly chipper mugshot.
Daleiden’s alleged co-conspirator, Sandra Merritt, turned herself in yesterday and was also immediately released after posting bond. Merritt has been offered a plea deal that would involve probation. Her attorneys haven’t indicated if she’ll accept the deal.
