Be Afraid: I Know What You Did Last Summer Is Getting a Reboot

I first saw “I Know What You Did Last Summer” at the $1.75 Tanforan movie theater in San Bruno, California. It was the day after a holiday and I yelped so loudly at the end (you know what I’m talking about), that my friend Jukey made fun of me on the ride home. Now, we’ll all be able to relive that magic again.

Sony is producing a reboot of the I Know… franchise. While the only film in the works is a reimagining of the first film (does that mean the killer stays the same?), it’s likely that a sequel will happen if the numbers are good. And based on the last time this franchise played theaters, the numbers will likely be good, if only due to the nostalgia factor and the inevitable Jennifer Love Hewitt cameo that’s coming (WILL SHE BE THE KILLER?). Will Anne Heche be there? What is Sarah Michelle Gellar doing? Maybe let’s just do the same movie from the 90s just with everyone as adults?

The movie is being written by Mike Flanagan (Oculus) and Jeff Howard and being produced by Neal Moritz who, besides producing the Fast and the Furious franchise (Why did Paul Walker and Vin Diesel never have a scene where they were trapped in a car in the snow and had to huddle together naked for warmth?), produced I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997. I don’t know what Lois Duncan is doing, but I hope she’s happy about this and getting royalties.

I have just one more thing to say: What are you waiting for? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, HUH? ::Spins around angrily but also in an excited way that suggests that I will see the reboot on the day it comes out::
