Aubrey Plaza Met Ryan Gosling & Didn't Cry, Shake Or Propose (Like We Would)

This month's Rolling Stone features a story on comedian Aubrey Plaza, whom you might recognize from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World or as the deadpan April Ludgate on Parks & Recreation. Plaza just might be just as sarcastic and wry has the character she brings to life every Thursday night on NBC. For those of you who have seen some of her more awkward television interviews, she admits that being in the hot seat just encourages her to make things awkward for all involved:

"I'm not supercomfortable in my skin. I have to make it work for me, and that usually amounts to making it uncomfortable for everyone else."

And! Speaking of uncomfortable, when she met Ryan Gosling, she didn't even know who he was. (How is that possible?) Here's how she recalls the time Baby Goose approached her at a party:

"I didn't recognize him. He said, 'I'm a big fan of the show,' and I said, 'Thank you. Are you an actor?' He kind of smirked and said, 'Yeahhh...' I asked his name, and he said, 'Ryan,' but it didn't click. I was like, 'We worked together, didn't we? You look so familiar.' He kept smirking, like I was messing with him. I got my juice and left." Plaza sighs. "I missed my shot."

Plaza gets major props for playing it cool in a situation in which many of us might react um, inappropriately. If Ryan Gosling spoke to me, I would be simultaneously paralyzed with fear, crying, and peeing my pants, and somebody would have to call an ambulance. Advantage: Plaza.
