This weekend, around 4,000 people gathered at the Cobo Center in Detroit for the Women’s Convention—a follow-up to January’s Women’s March intended to tap into “the power of women in leadership as the fundamental, grassroots force for change” ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.
, we hear from Jezebel’s Megan Reynolds who was at the convention (along with staff writer Ellie Shechet), and, despite her apprehensions (who is the convention for? Who does it benefit?), came away from the weekend with something like hope.
“Everyone is still really mad at the administration, everyone is really excited to do something—another Women’s March, another convention, everyone wants to take action against it, and everyone I spoke to was very hopeful about whatever experience they had at the convention.”
“They sound exhausting to organize, attending can be exhausting as well, but I think if the feeling you’re leaving with is ultimately one of hope and empowerment, then, you know, great.”

In the episode we also hear about a few specific panels and Social Justice City, discuss Paul Manafort’s indictment, and share a very spooky political story.
