Sad update: Lacey “Princess” Holsworth, who jumped into our hearts during March Madness through her friendship with Michigan State baller Adreian Payne has died.

The 8-year-old suffered from nerve cancer and succumbed to the disease early Wednesday morning, writes Mashable. Her parents posted the news on Instagram, along with this message.
