Your Evening Cry: I Am Big Bird Will Punch You Right in the Feelings

Caroll Spinney, the 80-year-old man behind Sesame Street's Big Bird and Oscar, is finally getting his moment in the limelight with the documentary I Am Big Bird. The film is set to hit theaters on May 6th and what the fuck? What is happening to my face? Water. Water emerging from my eyes in an unstoppable waterfall of maudlin nostalgia. Oh, god. Oh my god.

My only nitpick would be that the trailer is too Big Bird heavy and doesn't focus enough on Oscar the Grouch, the one true hero of Sesame Street and my longtime power animal. But at one hour and 26 minutes in length, there's more than enough time to give both beloved characters their due.

Here's hoping this film doesn't hit theaters when I am on my period, or I will literally cry myself to death.

My mom remembers that episode where Big Bird has found out Mr. Hooper died. It was such a wonderful way to explain death to children.
