Y/N: Pitbull and Empire's Jussie Smollett Made a Party Anthem You'll Hate-Love

EntertainmentMusic

Y: I’m aware this isn’t great, but I’m putting Jussie Smollett and Pitbull’s “No Doubt About It” in here because it’s real and it’s good, in that it’s much better than the worst songs on Empire. [This Is RnB]

Y: I find myself needing to jam primally to Selena Gomez’s gummy single, “Me and the Rhythm.” It’s probably the rhythm. [E! Online]

Y: Into the bass, squeals and overall mystical vibe of ZHU’s “Testarossa Music.” [Fader]

Y: Erykah Badu would be the one to turn Drake’s “Hotline Bling” into a soothing spaceship funk record. It’s of course the best version. [Complex]

Y: My favorite pop-locker Omarion’s falsetto sounds very passionate over the aquatic pulses of “Sweet Anita.” I feel him. [Rap-Up]

Y: Elliphant and Big Freedia’s video for “Club Now Skunk” looks like an explosion of psychedelic textures and candy. It’s noisy and dizzying but totally entrancing. [Idolator]

N: Beyoncé plays the background on “Can I,” which sounds like one of Drake’s atmospheric mixtape interludes where he’s requesting clarity from a confusing woman. Eh. [Fader]

Y: Some days, you just feel like laying tranquilly in an oyster shell like in BEA1991’s “My Name Is Written On It” video. [Fader]

Y: Donald Glover pulled off a jarringly sweet cover of my absolute favorite Tamia song, “So Into You.” [Bossip]

Y: Rick Ross cleans up nicely on a tender song about atoning for past mistakes while Chris Brown sings regretfully of “Broken condoms, lipstick marks and unprotected sex.” [This Is RnB]

Y: I don’t love this song, but the video for Def Loaf’s “Back Up” features rollerskating and dance battles, two of my favorite things. [Idolator]

Y: All the pastels in Kehlani’s cheery video “Alive” gives it the feel of a painting and also makes me want to book a vaca. [Fader]
