World's Most Patient Cat Can Barely Contain Contempt For Baby

Latest

The “pissed off and fed up” body language of this cat is just about the funniest thing I’ve seen all day, because it about sums up how I feel when I’m around most babies.

Before I was born, my mother had this cat named Beverly. Beverly was a big puma-looking calico who was a fierce mouser and violent veterinarian-hater. She was so violently against the poor man saddled with her medical care that he had special heavy duty leather gloves that he had to wear whenever my mom brought her in. She bit through them. He was afraid of her. She was, to put it lightly, unruly and ill-tempered with him, and he warned my mother that if she was planning on having children, she should consider getting rid of that “vicious, vicious animal.”

When I was born, however, she would let me act like the baby in this video around her. There are dozens of pictures of baby me grabbing fistfuls of her fur and looking at the camera with an expression of unrelenting delight in my eyes, and there’s Beverly, fearsome Beverly, sitting there with her ears pointed back and her eyes narrowed, looking murderous but contained. I’m not sure how she knew, but she somehow could tell that biting me in the face would be a bad career move on her part, even though she wanted to so very much.

Oh, cats. Aren’t they wonderful murdering jerks?
