Woman Killed in Car Crash While Facebooking Lyrics to 'Happy'

32-year-old Courtney Sanford was driving on Business 85 in High Point, North Carolina when her car crossed the median and collided with an on-coming truck. Sanford's car burst into flames. Emergency services were called to the scene at 8:34 AM. Investigators confirm that at 8:33 AM, seconds before Sanford collided with the other vehicle she had been using Facebook to post the following status update about Pharrell's "Happy:

Investigators analyzing the accident have also confirmed that Sanford was taking and posting selfies to Facebook as she drove down the highway, not paying attention to traffic.

Lt. Chris Weisner of the High Point Police Department had this to say about the accident:

"In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy," says Weisner.

"As sad as it is, it is a grim reminder for everyone… you just have to pay attention while you are in the car..."

The driver of the truck was not injured.

A woman is dead and has grieving family and friends, so I don't want to snark, but goddamn do I want to snark.

I really don't understand why people don't take driving seriously. You are capable of potentially 36,000 N of force right now, Facebook can fucking wait

This is going to sound cold, but at least it was just her and she didn't take anyone else with her foolishness.

If one of my sisters killed themselves doing something like that, of course my heart would be shattered into a million pieces, but I would also be *pissed*. It's just fucking stupid, y'all.
