Who Will Play Wonder Woman in the Batman vs. Superman Movie?

Latest

The bad news is that even though comic book flicks are all the rage, there is still no Wonder Woman movie in production. The sorta-good news is that it’s looking like Wonder Woman will appear in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie starring Ben the Aflac duck and Henry Cavill.

According to Variety, under consideration for the part are (left to right) Gal Gadot from Fast & Furious; Elodie Yung from Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and G.I. Joe: Retaliation; and Olga Kurylenko, who was in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace and will also be seen in the upcoming Vampire Academy movie. There is, of course, a catch: No one seems to know if the role that’s being cast is actually Wonder Woman or just your regulation hot chick.

From Variety:

Sources stress there’s still a possibility this role could be Bruce Wayne’s love interest, but the casting description of “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic” also matches that of the Wonder Woman character in the comics.

Even if it is Wonder Woman, there’s no guarantee she’ll get her own movie. Thor 2 opens today, both men and women will be flocking to theaters, and yet Wonder Women never gets to join the fun. As Daniel Bettridge writes over at Total Film, this will be Thor’s third time in a major motion picture and still no Wonder Woman?

She’s a bonafide icon, a heroine who’s recognised around the world and whose image is emblazoned on all manner of merchandise. So why hasn’t she made the leap from strip to screen?

Oh well, at least we have Katniss?
