Watch Key & Peele Frolic Around Negrotown, a 'Utopia for Black People'

Latest

Well, if only life were this simple. To promote the season 5 premiere of Key & Peele on July 8, the comedy duo released this musical skit about a fictional “utopia for black people” called Negrotown. No, it isn’t Atlanta (their joke, not mine).

The clip starts with Key’s character getting arrested-while-black before he’s saved by a salmon-suited Peele and transported to a far away land “where there ain’t no pain, ain’t no sorrow.” Basically, no white supremacy!

Brown people in Negrotown can walk the streets without being arrested, easily catch a cab and shop without being followed. But of course, the ending is all too real.
