Watch A$AP Rocky Play Out a Zooted-Up Love Story in New 'L$D' Clip
Entertainment
A$AP Rocky’s new track “L$D” is pretty far outside his previously established oeuvre—he’s sung on tracks before, but this is something of a weeded torch ballad, a deeply contemplative and poetic track from the guy who once wrote an entire song around namedropping popular and obscure fashion labels. (“Fashion Killa,” and I fucking love it.)

Cut from his forthcoming album At.Long.Last.A$AP, a copy editor’s nightmare, “L$D” makes more sense within the context of this video, shot in the Yakuza-heavy Shinjuku, Kabukicho area of Tokyo. With Ambush Clothing street-style star Yoon as his love interest, the two explore the city as scenes melt into each other trippily—L$D stands for Love, Sex, Dreams (or $ex, I guess) three things with the capacity to fuck you up like hallucinogens. At this point, though, it’s all one big haze, no doubt: Rocky’s on the cusp of even bigger fame, with a starring role in the new Sundance fave Dope and his second album on the way, the world turning by him in a whir.
RIP Yams.
