The lawyer representing Joran van der Sloot in his murder trial has now quit. He says van der Sloot isn't paying his bills, and they can't agree on a strategy for the defense. It's unclear how this will affect the trial — van der Sloot has a hearing coming up next week.

It will likely be postponed so he can obtain new counsel.

And I'm not sure what the rules are in other states, but in Maryland an attorney has to file a Motion to Strike His or Her Appearence... you can't just "drop" a case.
