Urban Outfitters Tries to Save Itself With Hipster Workout Clothes

Latest

Not content with their still-struggling revenue stream, Urban Outfitters is expanding into patterned leggings, short-shorts and tiny tank-tops. Does this sound like what they already sell? It’s all very different – this time, the clothes are for working out.

Refinery29 reports that Urban will be bringing Without Walls to certain Urban stores in March. The brand is made of “performance clothing and gear for fitness, surf, trail, and cycle, so you can keep moving without looking like everyone else,” their YouTube description explains. “We don’t chase adventures, we create them.” Without Walls will sell clothes from well-known companies like Vans and Patagonia, and, if the promo video they’ve released is any indication, shoot all their ad campaigns in that overlit, feels-like-you’re-hungover style they enjoy so much.

Last week, MarketWatch reported that Urban’s fourth-quarter sales rose at Free People and Anthropologie but fell at Urban Outfitters.
