The True Story Behind The Whoopi/Salahi Kerfuffle

Michaele Salahi and the rest of The Real Housewives Of D.C. were on The View yesterday; now Team Salahi says Whoopi abused Michaele. What the hell?

Salahi and the other “housewives” were getting caught up in some personal drama — blabbing about who insulted whom — when Whoopi Goldberg came out from backstage, gently touched Salahi on the back, and said, “Can we go back to the White House, please?” Meaning: Stay on topic.

But to hear Michaele Salahi tell it, she suffered abuse. The Daily Beast reports:

According to Lisa Bloom, the Salahi’s lawyer, Goldberg grabbed Salahi’s arm and said, “Move on, move on! Get to the White House!”

…Then, after the show finished taping, Goldberg, according to the Salahis’ lawyer, Lisa Bloom, burst into a room Michaele was sitting in with Tareq and screamed: “I didn’t fucking hit you! Did you say I fucking hit you?”

In addition, when on the air, Sherri Shepherd said that since the Salahis had crashed the White House, “You guys should be in jail.” The audience clapped, though Salahi claims that was only because an “applause” light went on. Ms. Bloom says: “I think they treated her horribly. I think they defamed her. I was really shocked by the way she was treated. It’s one thing to ask tough questions, it’s another to use defamatory language when you’ve been warned not to.”

So. Salahi told a producer that Whoopi grabbed her arm — which, as the video above proves, did not happen — and yet, there are headlines that scream, “White House Crasher Accuses Whoopi of Hitting Her on The View.”

How else do you to entice viewers to tune into your show, which premieres tonight?

This morning, Whoopi set the record straight: She showed the footage in which she ever so gently touches Salahi on the back. She said: “Then I was told that she thought I hit her. So I went up to her, and I told her that she knew I didn’t hit her. And yeah: You know how I said it. Choice words.” And when Michaele’s husband got involved? “Needless to say, I really went off then.”

Summary: Nothing happened, but Michaele Salahi found a way to keep her name in the news.
