The New Version of Carrie Actually Looks Pretty Fucking Scary

Latest

I’m actually starting to get excited about the new Carrie, guys. It’s directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss), co-stars Julianne Moore and Judy Greer and, if the trailer is to be believed, actually looks pretty fucking scary. And look! They’ve included the period scene!

The trailer gives away pretty much the whole bulk of the story — maybe they’re assuming that it’s one we’re already familiar with — and you can see plenty of homages to both the Stephen King novel and the 1976 film version. 2013’s Carrie (Chloë Grace Moretz) wears a very similar prom dress to her seventies counterpart and, thank god, we get to hear Julianne Moore mutter the hysterical and terrifying “They’re going to laugh at you. They’re all going to laugh at you.”

It’ll be hard to live up to Sissy Spacek’s performance in the original film (John Travolta’s, too!), but it looks as though Moretz and Co. are putting in a good effort.
