Terry Richardson Is Reportedly Being Investigated by the NYPD

Terry Richardson, the photographer who for several years now has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by multiple women, is reportedly being investigated by the NYPD.

The NY Daily News reports that multiple women confirmed with them on Tuesday that that investigators of the NYPD Special Victims Unit squad have requested meetings about Richardson’s behavior. Jezebel spoke with one of those women, model and designer Lindsay Jones, who confirmed she was contacted by a NYPD detective to schedule a meeting. When contacted by Jezebel this detective declined to comment or confirm whether the investigation was happening. A spokesperson for the NYPD did not respond to a request for comment.

Former model Caron Bernstein, who alleged that Richardson had forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2003, told the Daily News that a special victims detective had set up a meeting with her. In a phone call with Jezebel she said she could “neither confirm or deny” that the police were investigating the photographer. “I didn’t do it for any kind of attention, I didn’t do it for any kind of money,” Bernstein told Jezebel about coming forward with her story. “But if I can help stop this person… he’s a monster, an absolute monster.”

Sara Ziff, founder of the Model Alliance, an advocacy organization for models in the fashion industry, confirmed to Jezebel that she has offered her assistance to the investigation after the Special Victims Unit contacted the alliance last month.

“I think victims should see justice and I’m encouraged that the national conversation has emboldened people to come forward with claims against Richardson and other people who have been accused of sexual misconduct,” Ziff said in a call. “I think that the national conversation has changed and the fashion and modeling industries need to take these issues seriously.”
