Ten-Year-Old Alleged Rape Victim Survives Burial To Identify Rapist

Latest

In what we certainly hope is the most horrifying story we read this week, a ten-year-old Filipina girl was allegedly beaten, raped, and then tossed in a shallow grave. The good news: she survived, and now her rapist will face charges.

According to GMANews, the girl, identified as “Myla,” was attacked by her 21-year-old cousin Dennis Quilaton. He raped her, knocked her unconscious with a heavy object, and then, believing she was dead, threw her in a grave and covered her body with leaves. Luckily, she was still alive — and she was able to tell her story to her family.

Now Quilaton has given himself up, and will face charges of rape and attempted murder. Says the girl’s father, James, “I can’t accept what he did to my daughter. He deserved to be imprisoned forever.” I don’t generally think victims families should set the punishment for their attackers, but in this case, I agree with James.
