Taylor Swift's New Song Sounds Like Another Song… BUT WHAT?

Latest

I can’t put my finger on it, but I know it’s there. Anyone? WE WILL CRACK YOUR CODE, SWIFT.

The 23-year-old sun-kissed sensation wrote the song with fun.’s Jack Antonoff. Called Sweeter Than Fiction, it’ll be on the soundtrack for the upcoming film One Chance. I’m one hundred percent sure I’ll cry in the theater as it plays over the credits.

As for what the catchy tune kinda sounds like, the best I can come up with is that it’s a cross between OMD’s Tesla Girls:

and Avril Lavigne’s Sk8ter Boi (I will never get tired of typing the name of that song, even though it takes me like ten minutes.):

But I don’t think that’s it. It could just be that I wanted to listen to those songs. Great songs.

(And I’m not saying it’s a direct rip-off or thievery in any way, it just reminds me of another song. Besides, all creative endeavors involve theft; nobody has ever had an original thought; etc.)

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Icnmreow and Windier E. Megatons got it! I was totally thinking of Liz Phair’s Why Can’t I which I really love, even if everyone thinks it’s her crap sell-out stuff. I love all Liz Phair forever.

However, everyone brining up songs that match even more closely like If You Leave, Perfect Day, and Yellow and several 80s songs and now they are just mushed together in my head. Should we start a band or what?
