Swift, who has maintained an uncharacteristic coyness regarding her political affiliations, voiced her support for the candidates based on myriad issues, including the gender wage gap and LGTBQ rights. She stated that she would be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives.
Last year, when certain writers highlighted Taylor’s prominence as an alt-right darling, a representative for Taylor sent cease and desists to various sites, including Jezebel, and failed to denounce the various white nationalist sects who had claimed her as one of their own. It’s also telling that she held out until the Tennessee state race was so close to endorse her opponent.
