In the same week that I deleted my Kim Kardashian Hollywood app from my phone (after reaching the A list, I got bored), ironically, here comes news that innovator Taylor Swift is developing a mobile game with Glu Mobile, the same company behind Kim’s app.
Swift thus follows a trend set by Kardashian, with Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and even the Transporter dude Jason Statham also hopping on the game wagon. All these deals were done through Glu, which seems to be seriously cornering this terrible market.
Variety reports that the company’s stock “jumped more than 26% in after-hours trading Wednesday after the Swift deal was announced.”
Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi says the app makers are aware that Swift’s fans want “a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience.” But the game is still in development, so no details on the concept or point of it.
