  • Why are Carine Roitfeld and Vogue Paris banned from the Balenciaga show? Roitfeld says the house also refuses to lend the magazine samples for shoots and no longer advertises in its pages. Why? “Ask them,” she shrugged. Balenciaga wouldn’t comment. [WWD]

  • No photographs will be permitted at the Alexander McQueen showroom next week, when the fall/winter line will be presented to small groups of editors. The label’s usual runway show was canceled following McQueen’s suicide. [@BinkleyOnStyle]

  • Interestingly enough, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga topped the list of most-“buzzed”-about brands at Paris fashion week. We’d love to know how online “buzz” is quantified. [WSJ]
  • Danny Glover has sent a letter to all the Academy Award nominees and presenters asking them to not wear Hugo Boss at the Oscars. Glover is upset that the company plans to close its Cleveland factory, which employs around 300 people, and move production to lower-wage countries in Eastern Europe or Turkey. Hugo Boss did not respond to Glover’s letter directly, but did say that the facility, which was marked for closure last December, is not “globally competitive.” [TheWrap]

  • There is speculation that the French actress Melanie Thierry will front the next Yves Saint Laurent women’s fragrance, due out later this year. A spokesperson for the company would not comment. [WWD]
  • This doesn’t sound good. Since Martin Margiela and Diesel‘s last creative director have left the company, owner Renzo Rosso “has replaced them with unknown teams that rank lower in the brands’ hierarchy than business executives. The new creative director at Diesel is a magazine editor, not a clothing designer. Mr. Rosso believes his brands need trend-spotters more than someone who can craft a hemline.” [WSJ]
  • Tom Ford‘s return to women’s wear is said to be imminent. The rumor mill indicates that Ford has been quietly headhunting talent for the creative team during the European shows. [WWD]
  • “I’ll design something fun and outrageous and Vegas-style for her,” says Richie Rich of Pamela Anderson‘s Dancing With The Stars wardrobe. In case you were in any doubt. “It’s the Ice Capades meets Christmas. Gotta be over-the-top, shiny, sparkly, colorful and fun.   • Both Aquascutum‘s head men’s and women’s wear designers have stepped down abruptly. The troubled British label nearly was bankrupted last year, but was bought at the last minute from its Japanese owners by Jaeger head Harold Tillman and Aquascutum’s own chief executive, Belinda Earl.   • Urban Outfitters is entering the bridal market, under an as-yet-unnamed brand. The Anthropologie creative team — and “guest designers” — will be responsible for the designs, which will be sold at first only over the Internet. [WWD]
  • Australian underwear brand AussieBum is offering men’s undies in a fabric that is 27% banana fiber. [Reuters]
  • Abercrombie & Fitch finally got some good news. Sales rose 16% on last year’s results during the month of February. Its shares jumped 10% in response. Abercrombie has weathered a year and a half of declining monthly comps that had some wondering about its survival. [Forbes]
