Snap Judgment: Europe's Royals Love Tiaras and Pink

Latest

While the British royal family prefers to wear ridiculously elaborate hats to weddings, the rest of northern Europe’s royal women prefer the good-old-fashioned tiara. Princesses and tiaras are a natural fit. Besides, there’s no better way to display wealth, power, and lineage more meaningfully than casually wearing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on your head. Divine right and whatnot.

The women of Europe’s dynastic families showed off their tiaras and penchant for pink at yesterday’s wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden to model Sofia Hellqvist.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden, her husband Christopher O’Neill and their daughter Princess Leonore attend the royal wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Sofia Hellqvist at The Royal Palace on June 13, 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden.

More pink:

We get it, you’re all blond and love pink:

Queen Sonja of Norway mixes it up with some yellow:

And her tiara was pretty gorgeous:

And mother of the groom, Queen Silvia wore jewels fit for, well, a queen:
