Sinead O’Connor Found Safe After Posting Distressing Facebook Status

Latest

Sinead O’Connor is reported to be safe after posting a suicidal Facebook status in which she said to have “taken an overdose.” The status updates, which appeared to have been written by the singer-songwriter in recent days, detail problems between O’Connor and her ex-husband Donal Lunny in regards to the well-being of their son, Shane.

“I have taken an overdose,” O’Connor wrote. “There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name If I wasn’t posting this, my kids and family wouldn’t even find out. Was dead for another fortnight since none of them bother their hole with me for a minute. I could have been dead here for weeks already and they’d never have known.” According to People, the series of posts revealed O’Connor’s battles with Lunny and another ex-husband, as well as her eldest son, Jake Reynolds. Other posts show her asking fans for help in securing a job and a place to live.

In July, O’Connor cancelled her tour in order to care for Shane after he was diagnosed with an unspecified “life-threatening” illness. Irish authorities told BreakingNews.ie that the singer was “safe and sound” and receiving medical attention.
