'Ship Your Enemies Glitter' Is Begging People to Stop Using Them

Latest

Sometimes a really great idea can bite you in the ass.

Just ask the creator behind Ship Your Enemies Glitter. As Gizmodo reports, the website offers to send your enemies a totally innocent looking envelope in the mail. Once they open it, they get a giant, obnoxious glitter bomb that will show them what an asshole you they are and gives you sweet, shiny revenge. The site, featured on Product Hunt, became an overnight viral sensation with thousands of orders rolling in. Since then, they’ve had the expected issues that come with sudden viral attention (their website crashed, they don’t have the manpower to handle the orders, etc.) and founder Mat Carpenter seems totally overwhelmed with his overnight fame and success. Business Insider reports:

Mathew Carpenter, who created the site, desperately posted on Product Hunt last night: “Hi guys, I’m the founder of this website. Please stop buying this horrible glitter product — I’m sick of dealing with it. Sincerely, Mat.”

Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover described Ship Your Enemies Glitter as “the ultimate troll product.”
Unfortunately, the troll is now on Carpenter, who is being forced to work overtime to maintain his breakout hit.
By midday yesterday, Ship Your Enemies Glitter had made the top of Product Hunt and been shared on Facebook over 80,000 times. “Enjoy your walk to the postal office,” a friend of Carpenter commented on his Facebook page.

It looks like Carpenter is having a lot of trouble maintaining the site and the volume of orders and now maybe wants to unload the whole thing.

Not many people are sympathetic with him, though.

So please, kind people—stop trolling your enemies with this troll product. Have a heart, all you bastards.
