Sarah Paulson Wins Her First Emmy, Gives a Sweet Shoutout to Holland Taylor

Latest

The wonderful Sarah Paulson won her first Emmy Sunday night for the role of Marcia Clark in The People v O.J. Simpson.

Paulson, who brought the real Marcia Clark with her to the awards ceremony, spoke about the mistreatment Clark experienced during the infamous trial. “I am glad to be able to stand here in front of everyone today and tell you I’m sorry,” Paulson said as she addressed Clark directly during her speech. Paulson also thanked her co-stars, including Sterling K. Brown (who also won tonight), and executive producer Ryan Murphy. “I owe you everything, you changed my life,” Paulson said to Murphy, who is also the creator American Horror Story (Paulson was also nominated tonight for that show).

But the most charming part of her speech was when she thanked her girlfriend, Holland Taylor. “Holland Taylor, I love you,” Paulson said. Taylor returned the love on Twitter:

The moment recalled Paulson’s pre-show interview with E!, where she had very sweetly declared her love for Taylor. “Hi Holland — Holland Taylor, if you’re watching, I love you,” Paulson said directly to the camera. Taylor got the message:

At any rate, Paulson’s win was well-deserved and the exchange between her and Taylor has been a joy.
