Sacha Baron Cohen Probably Punked Roy Moore, so Now I Will Watch His New Show

Latest

Like many of you, I was a tad underwhelmed when, earlier this week, Sarah Palin was in the news again and it was all a comedian’s fault. Can’t some things stay in the past? Must all of America’s demons come back to haunt us at once in a great and terrible Republic ghost party? A moment’s peace, please!

But now I’m suddenly excited for Sacha Baron Cohen’s next skewering of our culture such as it is, in a Showtime series called Who Is America?, because it looks as if former Alabama judge Roy Moore will make an appearance. That guy is the worst!

Deadline reported that Moore, who as I’m sure you remember only narrowly lost an Alabama Senate special election to a Democrat in December after reports of his alleged pedophilia were published, said in a statement on Thursday that he accepted a free trip to Washington in February under the premise the he would receive an award for his support of Israel. It’s the kind of situation one automatically wants to fuck with yet is too often powerless in the face of. Moore continued:

“I did not know Sacha Cohen or that a Showtime TV series was being planned to embarrass, humiliate and mock not only Israel but also religious conservatives such as Sarah Palin, Joe Walsh and Dick Cheney…. As for Mr. Cohen, whose art is trickery, deception and dishonesty, Alabama does not respect cowards who exhibit such traits!”

Moore also threatened to sue Showtime if it “aires a defamatory attack on my character,” which he then goes on to compare to his fighting in the Vietnam War.

Moore is currently suing at least four women who accused him of sexual misconduct during his recent campaign.

The series premieres Sunday on Showtime, whom is bringing the popcorn?
