Rutgers student Tyler Clementi killed himself after his roommate surreptitiously taped him having a sexual encounter with another man and broadcast it to other students on campus. One of those students was Molly Wei, and she’s requesting that she enter a pretrial intervention program that would allow her to avoid a criminal record.
The program will allow Ms. Wei to fulfill conditions similar to that of people on probation. After a specified period of time, she’ll be free to continue her life without being encumbered by the fact that her actions led to a kid killing himself.
Last week, the man responsible for streaming Clementi’s sexual encounter, 19-year-old Dharun Ravi, was indicted on 15 criminal counts.
Fortunately for those who don’t think Molly Wei should be able to leave all of this behind her, Google is forever and the internet never forgets.
