Senate Republicans, meanwhile, have bravely asserted their outrage.
Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:
- Roy Moore has vehemently denied the allegations in the Washington Post’s exhaustively sourced story about his alleged sexual encounters with minors, asserting that the Washington Post and/or the women in question made up these claims for political reasons, an explanation that appears to have satisfied the state GOP if not Washington’s establishment wing. Alabama State Auditor Jim Zeigler countered with an astounding point: “Take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.” He also went on Sean Hannity to deny the allegations but also to recall taking “young girls” out when he came back from Vietnam and that “I don’t remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother.” [Washington Post, The Hill]
- The Senate has passed a measure requiring sexual harassment training for Senators and staffers. [Politico]
- Mueller is reportedly investigating Michael Flynn and his son for allegedly planning to kidnap Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen and deliver him to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for $15 million. [WSJ]
- The key takeaway from this hyped up New York Times interview with Steve Bannon: what is the purpose of this interview? Like, actually? Can everyone please stop doing this? [New York Times]
- Omarosa Manigault is vigorously disputing ex-White House communications director Mike Dubke’s claim that she left her shoes “all over the White House.” [The Hill]
- The president was forced to look particularly stupid today. [Twitter]
