But it's fun to joke about performing sedition for your talent anyway! The journalist (and former pageant queen) was on The Daily Show last night to talk about her new memoir of captivity in Iran.

I read a memoir recently called "My Life as a Traitor." It's about an Iranian woman, who at the time was 19 or 20, got imprisoned in Evin (which jails political prisoners) and went through psychological and physical torture. It really upset me because she's around my age, and she was held captive simply for being part of a protest at her university. Like in Roxana's case, she had to make false confessions. They eventually released her, but she was banned from attending basically any university in Iran. I can't even fathom losing my right to have an education.
