Roseanne Barr's New Show Is Practically Begging For Bad Puns
LatestIn a press release from the network, Roseanne says “I’m coming back down to earth, and keeping it real. They’ve said ‘Roseanne’s nuts’ for years, and now I’m going to make that a reality — I’m all about nuts now, macadamia nuts!” Truly. The series will follow Barr as she runs a 40-acre nut farm in Hawaii alongside her musician/writer boyfriend and son. The release adds that she “uses a take-no-prisoners approach in shaping a Utopian dream for herself and her loved ones.” Right-o.
Given that the timing of Lifetime’s press release (February) and how her New York Magazine piece appeared after the fact (May), we have to wonder why her new series wasn’t mentioned the magazine piece. Was her experience with Lifetime any different? Was sexism still an issue at a network that targets the ladies? The blatant omission is kind of nuts.*
*Sorry, HAD TO. It’s one of those days.
