Robin Roberts has launched a new production company, aptly titled Rock'n Robin Productions. The venture will create original broadcast and digital programming for ABC and other networks. Big snaps for LQBT women of color making moves in the television industry!
Current projects already in production include a digital series for espnW, a news-driven documentary and two reality show pilots.
Rock'n Robins' first production, "In the Game with Robin Roberts," a series of interviews with today's top athletes, premieres tomorrow on espnW.com. Roberts will be speaking with Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team.
Roberts will continue to anchor Good Morning America while she serves as President of Rock'n Robin Productions because she is actually Superwoman. "I'm very excited to get involved in the business and development side of production, and will spend a lot of time working with the team on the creative," Roberts said. She added, "I'm so grateful to my ABC and GMA family for supporting the launch of the company."
Robin Roberts could slap me in the face and I would still love her—but she would never do that because she seems like the sweetest human ever. Because Robin Roberts is already so successful, a move like this seems like the natural next step. But keep in mind that a black lesbian will be calling the shots at a production company with her name on that already has deals inked with a major television network. That is a big deal.
