In a recent interview with Politico’s Women Rule podcast, Lea Márquez-Peterson, a Republican primary candidate for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, said that when it comes to Donald Trump, “I kind of separate the man from the policy.”

To which I say....huh?

“I mean, there are certainly things he has said that I’ve not agreed with related to women and so on,” she said. “But if I focus on the policy and things that I can actually impact, that’s where I take my stand.”

That makes a lot of sense. You have to be able to separate the man from the policy!

The man:

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”

The man:

“When you prosecute the parents for coming in illegally, which should happen, you have to take the children away. Now, we don’t have to prosecute them, but then we’re not prosecuting them for coming in illegally. That’s not good.”

DONALD TRUMP: The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment.

The policy:

Márquez Peterson doesn’t like the man, who is a racist misogynist, but she does like the policies, which are racist and misogynist. Got it.
