Compared to the montage of toned asses in this German commercial for Reebok EasyTones, the American "jealous boobs" commercial actually seems clever. Note to Reebok: If your customers don't have brains or hands, they can't reach into their wallets. [Copyranter]

After the first commercial debute, I wrote the following to Reebok:

"The Reebok Easy Tone ads are insulting. If you are trying to sell to women, you've missed by a mile. I don't look for shoes that strike envy in other women, nor that make my boobs envy my butt. The ads trade on the worst stereotypes about women being shallow and competitive about their looks. A bunch of T&A shots don't appeal to women.

The EasyTone sounds useful, and I would have tried it if not for the ads."

They responded thusly:

"Thank you very much for your feedback...The Reebok EasyTone ads were created to clearly illustrate the unique benefits of the footwear in a fun and bold way. The feedback we have received tells us that many consumers look at the ads in exactly that light, however we acknowledge that some consumers do take exception with the content of the ads.

You can be assured that your feedback will be relayed directly to our marketing team."

So basically, they are sorry that I am so upset.
