Ralph Lauren's spring 2014 collection, presented today as part of New York Fashion Week, was bold, bright, and eye-catching. This line mixes mod and menswear to varying degrees throughout — black and white geometric patterns adorning suits (feat. geometric patterned ties), vibrant colors, sleek silhouettes, and knee-high socks — and the result is consistently classy and refined.
Lauren has also designed a few evening gowns; especially noteworthy are the two bright red creations (the sleeves and plunging neckline on one are gorgeous, and I am crying at the beauty of the other's cape), which feel invigoratingly modern and exciting in comparison to the other ruffly, plainer drop-waist evening dresses.
I, for one, am thrilled about the leather skirt-suspender combination, because I've been trying to make "business leathers" a thing for years now.
